Burn Notice, Deserves More Props

I've mentioned Burn Notice before and yesterday I was catching up on the latest episodes. It really is one of the best formula television I've seen in a long time. Jeffrey Donovan, who plays the main character, does a great job of not only being pretty darn hot and great at action sequences, but also great with the comedy and character acting. As an ex-spy, he usually has to go undercover to solve his problem-of-the-week. It's delightful to watch him pick an accent and a demeanor and switch in and out of it. The most recent episode, "Rough Seas," (which you can watch in full online) had him playing a lab chemist nerd, and he was perfect. Not only did he have the voice (tone and pattern) down, but he also did nerdy action (walking, running, and most hilarious of all, carrying things). I like the writing and the other characters, but I watch mainly to see Jeffrey Donovan act and kick butt. And to learn stuff like how to tail people and how to drive during a car chase.

Incidentally, there are other interesting actors who come on: Tricia Helfer (Number 6, BSG) and Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson, SG:1) are his latest adversaries. The latter I didn't recognize until he went into a spate of ham acting... ;)

I keep hearing good things about Burn Notice. My parents like the show and they were talking it up last time they were out to see us. Maybe I'll have to check that out.

Hmm, I'm going to have to watch that one. See4, Chem geeks are nto your sterotypical klutzy computer geek - if we drop stuff or break stuff, often fire / poison is involved. But we can talk for an hour without speaking English...

Definitely two thumbs up: Patti and I have this as a subscription on our Tivo. Of course, the font makes the titles read "Bum Notice", so the series has been renamed in our house :)

I really like the show whenever I catch an episode. But that's the problem: I never remember to catch an episode. I know when it's on. I know I like it. But it just hasn't managed to cross over into Appointment Television.
