While walking a custom unit on my project yesterday, I saw the wierdest sink I've ever seen (evidence to the right). The basin depth is less than 2".
At first it seems impossible to use, but then when you think about it, how often do you fill up the bathroom sink with water? The only difficulty I can think of is cleaning your toothpaste down the drain. It should come with one of those faucets that has a sprayer-head.
Very odd.

I've seen similar sinks, but only in public restrooms...where presumably no one is brushing their teeth. As long as the sink is wide and long enough that splashing yourself is prevented, it works fine in that application. And in some locations, it might dissuade folks who want to wash more than their hands (that being a problem in some places).
Unless it's for a downstairs guest bathroom, I wouldn't want something like that at home.
Hmm... the bathrooms where I work have showers, which probably takes care of the "wash more than just hands" problem...
I'd think that with a flat basin, there'd be splashback issues and possibly drainage issues if it's completely horizontal.
I'm not entirely sure I'd want one of those in my bathroom at home... but there are lots of odd things out there that make a statement more than they serve a function - and people buy 'em.
What an unusual sink. Not very practical I would think, but would look nice in a guest powder room maybe.
