I grew up making chocolate chip cookies on my mom's Kitchen Aide mixer. I didn't realize what a staple it is until I didn't have one anymore.
Fortunately, a little over 3 years ago, my parents gave me a mixer of my own. The first thing I made was chocolate chip cookies, natch.
Today, I was putting away the recently cleaned bowl and realized how many food items I currently have in the house that were made with aid of the mixer:
- chocolate chip cookies
- pasta
- homemade marshmallows (yes, I'm working on writing out the process for that! I have a recipe, but as usual, I have changes and annotations.)
I also make sugar cookies and royal icing with it, along with other lovely things that I can't think of at the moment. (Maybe I'll come back and update after future cooking/baking fun.)
So, thank you, Kitchen Aide mixer, for doing your job so well.

I second that! I LOVE our Kitchen Aide mixer!!! We make pizza dough in ours . . . Also, I'd like to note that this is a great example of a product where the brand name becomes synonymous with the tool. Just goes to show what a high quality product it is (our Mum's Kitchen Aide was actually our grandmother's before it was ours, I believe!!).
I love love love love love my kitchen aid.
Love it.
Last year I upgraded from Classic to Artisan, and spent the extra money to get cobalt blue over white.
Now it's a think of beauty in function and looks.
And whenever you're looking for attachments, I got the shredder slicer attachment, and I use it often--and prefer it for those tasks to the Cuisinart. (However nothing beats a food processor for starting pie crust and chopping nuts.)
We got one for our wedding, we had registered for it, and it sat on the counter for 3 years before we actually used it. I don't know what we were thinking.
You know, cookies ship in the mail really well. I'm just sayin'...
Ha! I couldn't live without my KitchenAid. I've had mine for, well, heck, 18 years (just now realized that it has actually been that long).
If I had to make pizza and bread dough by hand I don't think I'd be making it at all.
I've got every attachment for it they make, though I don't like the can opener, and have little reason to use the juicer here in Alaska (I had lemon trees in the yard when I lived in California and used the juicer all of the time to make fresh lemonade).
Now, I think maybe I'll make some cookies, that sounds like a good friday project. ;)
