I remember seeing Death Race 2000 on TV!

As for Aileen's responses:
Sometimes I'm in the mood to suspend my disbelief and sometimes I'm not. One of the great thing about movies like Lord of the Rings and movie makers like Pixar is that the creative department decides what rules make sense in the world they are creating and then stick to them. The creative department for DK *assumed* my good opinion, rather than working for it. Motorcycles with wheels like the Bat-cycle roll forward in a straight line and that's about it. If they wanted that look, but a different function, they could have put little jets on the side that would put enough force into the turn that would allow the cycle to ride on the corner of the tire, something like that.

Ultimately, if I'm not swept up in the special effects enough to not notice the stupid anti-reality, they're not doing their jobs.

I think most villains are motivated by money and power. The Joker is meant to be something different. The organized anarchy thing (I know you meant it as a joke) irritates me as much as that Alanis "Ironic" song. It's lazy on the part of the writers. In their defense, it might not be the movie writers fault. He might be depicted in the comics as a super-planner anarchist. At the very least, they might acknowledge this paradox.Anne C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09444051201220766948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6889198.post-43217037723955437592008-07-29T09:26:00.000-06:002008-07-29T09:26:00.000-06:00We saw it as well this weekend and enjoyed it imme...We saw it as well this weekend and enjoyed it immensely! It was thrilling the whole way through. My response to some of your comments:

The other special effects were great, but couldn't they have designed some of them with reality in mind? - come on Anne!? It's a superhero movie!?!? If you went there expecting reality I'd question whether you knew what you were going to go see.

My major beef was that The Joker claimed to be an agent of anarchy, but his M.O. seemed to be extremely elaborate, albeit well-hidden, plans . . . I think we'll call this a writing flaw. - that's pretty much par for the course for every superhero villain to have ever existed. Anyway who said anarchy was easy? It takes hard work and forethought to disorganize things!Mummy Grabillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16334034298962491582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6889198.post-57923476233008434512008-07-29T08:57:00.000-06:002008-07-29T08:57:00.000-06:00ARGH! So many other movies that are out we haven't seen yet.
And speaking of blowing things up, Jason Statham has a new movie coming out end of July. It's a remake of Death Race 2000 (circa 1975).Staceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16984097652321280760noreply@blogger.com
