But I *do* think that's only when you take the great pains that you are supposed to with all the layers of wrapping to protect it!Mummy Grabillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16334034298962491582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6889198.post-13586824962118040882009-02-05T08:01:00.000-07:002009-02-05T08:01:00.000-07:00The more current tradition of wedding cakes being ...The more current tradition of wedding cakes being sold by Pastry Chefs is to give you a cake that feeds the # of people requested and then on the first anniversary of your wedding they will bake you a 'top tier' so that you have fresh cake instead of a frozen mess that will probably taste like chalk or looks like a disaster or most likely, both.Staceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16984097652321280760noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6889198.post-49961785248622112452009-02-04T10:11:00.000-07:002009-02-04T10:11:00.000-07:00Mummy! I mean olden times) were wrapped with almond paste called marzipan before the icing went on. The cakes were fruitcake, of course. And the top tier was carefully wrapped up and put away and taken out and eaten at the first child's christening.<BR/>Now, I believe, with the invention of deep freezes, the custom is to freeze the top layer and haul it out at the first wedding anniversary. I guess it's because weddings don't necessarily last till the first child, much less its christening. So one wouldn't want to waste the cake.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08607833362069584144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6889198.post-16366624752220348442009-02-03T15:58:00.000-07:002009-02-03T15:58:00.000-07:00Great job on the cake! :) When I was little, my mo...Great job on the cake! :) When I was little, my mom made wedding cakes! So if you need some tips/tricks I'd say come on out to MD and learn from an old pro! She's actually getting back into it now, and learning how to do fondant. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6889198.post-63641655531541236982009-02-03T14:21:00.000-07:002009-02-03T14:21:00.000-07:00Mmm, cake.Mmm, cake.belsumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06943795389862466294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6889198.post-5192418772286311952009-02-03T13:04:00.000-07:002009-02-03T13:04:00.000-07:00Janiece, I would have to work hard to NOT have fun...Janiece, I would have to work hard to NOT have fun around you guys. :)Anne C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09444051201220766948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6889198.post-71464825278710644672009-02-03T12:55:00.000-07:002009-02-03T12:55:00.000-07:00Those pumps were HAWT.And I'm glad you had fun.
